America's Cup is coming to Marin in 2013. If you are planning to buy property in time for this prestigious yacht race, Sausalito, Tiburon and Belvedere provide prime views, as well as valuable real estate. The America's Cup race is a best-of-nine series that is scheduled to commence September 7, 2013 and run through September 22. According to the Marin IJ, impact reports indicate as much as $1.4 billion will be pumped into the bay area economy, with as many as 11,500 people per day taking in the race from the shores of Southern Marin. Sausalito Floating Homes Tour-2010

Once a year an unusual event occurs in Marin real estate. It's the annual Sausalito Floating Homes Tour, and it's this Saturday September 25, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Featuring 19 floating homes out of approximately 425 in the area, it's a self-guided tour. Although, there will also be a few docents on hand to answer questions and provide a little history.
The tour begins at Gateway shopping center in Marin City. Take Bridgeway to Gate 6 Road. You can park in the lot and take the free shuttle service to the Marina Green at Kappas Marina. As 2009 winds down, Marin real estate is heating up. Single family homes listed under $1 million that are priced well are flying off the shelves. However, folks looking to purchase high-end homes in Marin, priced over $1 million, can still take advantage of a buyer's market most of the time.
That said, the median price of luxury real estate in Marin is up 9% for November 2009 versus November 2008. And the median price of high-end homes sold year-over-year is up 5%, from $1,450,000 to $1,525,000. There were 44% more properties in this price range sold in November this year, and 128% more homes in contract.
To look at the luxury real estate market in Marin from a supply/demand point of view, there were 6% fewer homes for sale, and 44% more sold in November…
